The Adirondack Railroad recently rehabilitated a siding to turnaround the train from Tupper. The 1935 marker appears to have been recently restored by an undisclosed party. Known as Long Lake West in 1908, "it was the most destructive fire in the history of New York State" at the time. It completely destroyed the community.
