Rivera Rockcrusher line out level affects tone massively?

The main difference I hear is too much low end on the maxed clip. It's not a bad start point though. A volume pot at the end of the chain inside the R.C. will change the output impedence. That interaction with the input impedence of your interface can change the frequency response. That is a hippy explanation. Certainly not educated or scientific.

IMO, if you're looking for very low volume levels, re-amping is the best approach. Attenuators work well for knocking the volume down to reasonable levels, but it sounds like you're wanting a level where you're going to get some compromise with most attenuators. Re-amping retains all the characteristics, even at TV level volumes.

Fryette Power Station would be nice but I'm not wanting to drop that much. The Rivera Rock Crusher and Ultimate Attenuator seem to get really good praise with 100 watt amps.
