7 Conclusions. In this paper, the quasi-static axial crushing behavior of a hexagonal energy absorption device named the origami crash box is studied through experiments, numerical simulation, as well as theoretical analysis. The proposed origami pattern is found to be able to trigger a diamond-shaped mode.
